![]() Come for the charm and the newly upgrade jukebox! Great people and reasonable prices. Owned by an eccentric fellow that goes by the name of Hammer. Thanks for the wonderful services.Ī quirky old alley in the middle of Bucktown. I came here with my family and we had a very good time bowling. The manager was very sharp and accommodating and cut us a rational deal. Came here last week just to drink, but at about 1 AM decided to roll a few games. Its a shame there are so few bowling alleys anymore, but if theyre all doing business like this place, Im not surprised. The front desk people are rude, the alley is small and the prices are high. Though the deal was good, the regular prices are atrocious for bowling, especially considering how poor the service is. Ive been here twice and both times it was because of a Groupon deal. I do recommend it highly for the price though. The lanes were good, and the balls didnt suck. Went into the arcade and it seemed as if all the games were from the late 90s. Over-charged me(which was corrected by the shoe rental guy). The lady at the counter was on her phone the whole time she was taking care of me. There seems to be a lack of anyplace decent to bowl in the city unfortunately. ![]() It is a great place with a nice atmosphere, and if your lane works, can be a lot of fun alone or with friends and family. Luckily, the man behind the counter was nice enough to give us an extra half an hour in addition to the time spent fixing the lanes. After countless times at fixing it, we were issued a new lane with the same issue, but not at the severity as it was before. One issue, however, was that the balls kept getting stuck, and would not come down and back. The alley was well oiled and the staff was very nice. Not sure why this unkempt bowling alley rather close than take in any additional revenue they can but they can be assured that at least 6 people from the area wont be giving them any money any time soon. We asked if we could bowl for the half hour until they said they were going to close (still an hour and a half earlier than they usually close) and they said no. I would say it's the Pollack in us that made us somewhat decent bowlers.īut my older sister's average was 89.Came in here an hour and a half before it was supposed to close and we were told we couldnt bowl because there were not enough people bowling and they were going to close in a half hour, despite there being six of us going and we were going to use 2 Lanes, in addition to the 5 people already using a lane and the couple drinking at the bar. You can keep our corporate competition, Brunswick Zone (the old Arena) and their synthetic lanes and their cosmic bowl nonsense.(And the fact they have to close at ten because of gangs is pretty scary, too.) When we got Bleekers, I hoped we could maintain the beautiful wood lanes like that. I lived on 53rd and Hermitage and still it was hard to see in my house the smoke was so bad.Yecch. I also remember the day Gage Park Bowl burned. Lots of stuff tended to burn down in the old hood! I remember when he had to climb to the charred second floor to get his ball out of the locker. When I was younger, my dad also bowled at Jay Bee on 51st and Damen and then it burned down. Oh, how I miss keeping score with pencil and paper! ![]() I bowled with my daddy at Miami and then again there with my sister where I was league secretary. ![]() I'm 51 and I grew up in Back of the Yards. If you are still in the area, stop in, mention this site and have lunch and a couple games on me! Though the outside is pretty much the way it's looked since the 50's, we gutted the inside, brightened it up, added a beer garden and most recently a grill. My husband and I have owned the place since 97. Bleekers Bowl in Evergreen Park is very much open. ![]()
